The Weatherization Assistance Program is a federal program for low-income households designed to lower monthly fuel costs by making a home more fuel-efficient. LIHEAP State Plan, Appendix C
The mission of the Weatherization Assistance Program is to lessen the negative effects of high energy costs on low-income citizens. Negative effects include a decreased ability to pay for utility service or heating fuel deliveries and to keep homes at temperatures necessary for health and comfort. This mission will be achieved by providing low-income households with high-quality weatherization services, including heating-system modifications, energy education and other energy-saving services.
