When the renewal alert for the end of the twelve-month EMC period appears in the eleventh month, the CAO will take the following actions:
Start the renewal process by sending the household the right renewal forms.
Using the information received, decide whether the budget group is eligible for any other MA categories.
If the budget group is eligible for another MA category, send them a change notice.
NOTE: Pregnant women must continue to receive NMP coverage. (See Chapter 338, Medical Assistance Benefits.)
NOTE: If a child is under age one and received MA at birth, the child must continue to receive MA until their review at their first birthday.
If the budget group is eligible for another MA category, approve benefits under the rules of the other category, starting on the day after the EMC ends.
If the budget group is not eligible for another MA category, send them an advance notice that the EMC benefits will stop.
NOTE: The CAO must mail notices before the end of the EMC eligibility period.
Make a CHIP referral as needed.
EMC benefits may be received more than once if the family meets the initial eligibility conditions.
