A renewal is a periodic review—by interview, mail-in, fax, or COMPASS—of Medical Assistance (MA) eligibility.
55 Pa. Code § 133.73 55 Pa. Code § 133.83
For all MA eligibility groups, an application (PA 600CH), renewal form (PA 600-R), or COMPASS renewal is required, but a face-to-face or individual interview is not.
Note: If a individual turns in the wrong application or renewal form, he or she does not need to complete another one. If information is missing, the County Assistance Office (CAO) can get it by letter or phone or by using pages of the PA 600 or a different application.
For households that get payment of the Medicare Part B premium (SLMBs or QI-1s), the 600M or COMPASS renewal is required, but an interview is not.
For people getting MA under MAWD, the 600WD or COMPASS renewal is required, but an interview is not.
The CAO must decide when to review eligibility on the basis of expected changes in a individual's situation and on the required time frame for each type of program and category of MA.
If a individual no longer meets the eligibility conditions for MA, the CAO must take action to stop benefits and refer the individual to other medical or health programs.
A renewal of MA eligibility may be completed at the same time as renewal of other programs.
