To qualify for food stamps, a SSI individual must apply and meet all conditions. (See the SNAP Handbook.)
SSI individuals are considered cash assistance individuals and are eligible for a burial payment. (See the Supplemental Handbook, Chapter 890, Burial Payment.)
SSI individuals are eligible for the same types of social services as cash assistance individuals. If the service comes from another agency, the CAO must give the other agency proof that the client gets SSI.
An individual who meets the conditions for both SSI and TANF benefits may choose which one he or she wants to get.
An individual may get GA at the same time he or she gets SSI if he or she meets certain conditions. (See the Cash Assistance Handbook, Chapter 136, Interim Assistance.)
SSI individuals can get special allowances for moving expenses and MA transportation. (See the Cash Assistance Handbook, Chapter 138, Allowances and Benefits.)
