When an overall adjustment is made to TANF/GA grants, a household receiving TANF/GA and SNAP benefits must have the new grant amount applied to its SNAP budget.
If the CAO is notified of the TANF/GA grant change at least 30 days in advance, SNAP benefits must be changed in the same month the grant change takes effect. When the CAO is not given sufficient notice, the change must be made no later than the month following the month of the TANF/GA grant change.
For most budgets, the Client Information System (CIS) will apply the new grant amount, compute the benefit amount, let the household know about the change, and send a notice to the case worker for control. 7 CFR § 273.12(e)(2)
The CAO must manually compute cases that cannot be processed by the system. The CAO must:
Recalculate the benefit amount using the new grant amount; and
Notify the household of the change, using a Confirming Notice (PA/FS 162-C).
