Educational assistance received by TANF-eligible students from loans, grants, scholarships, and work-study income does not count as income or as a resource.
NOTE: Income from an assistantship is not excluded for Cash Assistance. Assistantship income is countable unless the college or university confirms that the assistantship position is work-study.
The following are examples of proof of educational assistance:
An award letter
A statement from the person or organization giving the loan, grant, or scholarship
A statement from the school financial aid office
