The CAO must follow these guidelines when counting resources:
Keep in mind that resources for a family, no matter how big the family is, cannot be more than $10,000.
NOTE: Resources are not excluded for families with children under 21.
Count the resources of the individual and the spouse living with him or her.
Determine countable resources by applying the SSI-related rules in Chapter 340, Resources.
Do not count the resources identified in Section 340.82.
Do not count the following resources:
Family Savings Accounts (FSAs)—Funds deposited into and interest earned on FSAs are excluded.
Plan for Achieving Self-Support (PASS)—PASS accounts are excluded for former recipients of SSI.
