The CAO will review all eligibility factors for every SBP budget as often as appropriate, but at least once a year.
NOTE: A face to face interview is not required for SBP.
The SBP recipient must complete a renewal form at each renewal.
If, at any time, the CAO finds that the SBP recipient may qualify for SSI, the CAO must explain the two advantages of receiving SSI instead of SBP:
A higher cash payment
Non-money payment medical assistance benefits
If the blind person wants to apply for SSI, the CAO must:
Refer him to the Social Security Office
Help him file an application
Give SSA (Social Security Administration) information from the case record
Complete reimbursement forms (See Cash Assistance Handbook, Chapter 136, Interim Assistance)
