Any individual who is eligible for financial assistance is also eligible for Medical Assistance and receives a medical card called the Pennsylvania ACCESS card.
The individual presents the card to medical service providers, who will use the card to:
Verify eligibility on the Eligibility Verification System (EVS).
Get information to bill DHS for services performed.
The card is used for all services covered by DHS. Payments are always made to the medical providers. An individual cannot be reimbursed.
