If it is not known where a client is and the post office has returned agency mail with no forwarding address, the CAO must do the following:
If the client makes known where he or she is before the next payment date and is eligible, continue benefits.
If the client does not contact the CAO before the next payment date, discontinue benefits and send a Confirming Notice.
NOTE: The CAO must review “whereabouts unknown” situations to make sure benefits are not ended when a person is temporarily in the hospital. If they are stopped incorrectly in such a case, the CAO must restore benefits promptly.
