The AMR is completed for certain applicants when they apply for TANF. The caseworker must give the person the original AMR.
A new AMR may be completed or the existing AMR may be revised at renewal.
Whenever there is a change in a person’s circumstances, the current AMR must be updated or a new AMR must be completed.
The following are guidelines for who must complete and sign a separate AMR:
Each member of the budget group who is required to sign the Application for Benefits (PA 600) must also sign an AMR. The law requires a non assistance specified relative to complete and sign an AMR. However, his or her refusal to complete and sign the AMR, does not affect the budget group’s eligibility.
An 18-year-old full-time high school student is required to sign an AMR at application or renewal when he or she signs the PA 600 or PA 600R. This may be at the next renewal after his or her 18th birthday or earlier if the student stops pursuing education leading to a high school diploma or GED.
A pregnant or parenting minor under age 18 who signs the PA 600 on his or her own behalf must also sign an AMR.
NOTE: Protective payees are not required to complete an AMR.
