137.6 Time-Out

Time-Out is a program that does not count TANF days towards the 5 year lifetime limit. To qualify for Time-Out the TANF budget group must include an individual who is identified as either a victim of domestic violence or a kinship caregiver.

DOMESTIC VIOLENCE

Victims of domestic violence may be eligible for up to 12 months of Time-Out in a life time.         

These individuals may receive benefits in the Time-Out program for 12 additional months if the need still exists and the head of household or spouse of the head of household still meets requirements.  The limit on the number of months an individual may receive Time-Out applies regardless of whether the months are consecutive.

TANF-eligible families may continue to qualify for Time-Out based on domestic violence if:

 A TANF family may qualify for Time-Out under kinship care with an adult who is:

This individual may receive Time-Out as long as the individual meets the work requirements, is exempt, or has good cause for not meeting the work requirements and the children are under age 18 or are age 18 and in secondary school or its equivalent.
