A new application is required if TANF benefits were denied or closed for any of the following reasons:
Failure to complete job search requirements, unless the individual verifies exemption or good cause for not completing job search requirements, or verifies that job search requirements were met.
As a condition of eligibility for cash assistance the applicant who is not employed at least 20 hours per week is required to apply for at least three jobs per week while the application is pending, unless the applicant is exempt from work requirements or establishes good cause.
Applicants who claim an exemption from the job search requirement must verify that they are exempt. The applicant may be given good cause, if needed, while verification of the exemption is pending. Exemptions include, but are not limited to, the following:
A verified physical or mental disability
A single custodial parent who is caring for a child under the age of 12 months (limited to 12 months in the parent’s lifetime)
Caring for a disabled household member
Personal or family emergency
Homelessness
Domestic violence
The budget group’s income was over the income limit at the time of the review for eligibility unless the income was unverified and the budget group subsequently provides verification they are within income limits.
The budget group’s resources were over the resource limit at the time of the review for eligibility unless the resources were unverified and the budget group subsequently provides verification they are within resource limits.
NOTE: A new application is required if there is anyone new who wants to apply for Cash Assistance. See Section 104.15.
