To qualify for SNAP, an SSI individual must apply and meet all conditions. (See the SNAP Handbook.)
SSI individuals are considered cash assistance individuals
and are eligible for a burial payment. (See the Supplemental Handbook,
Chapter 890, Burial Payment.)
SSI individuals are eligible for the same types of social
services as cash assistance individuals. If the service comes from another
agency, the CAO
must give the other agency proof that the client
gets SSI.
An individual who meets the conditions for both SSI and
TANF benefits may choose which one he
or she wants to get.
SSI individuals can get special allowances for moving expenses and MA transportation. (See the Cash Assistance Handbook, Chapter 138, Allowances and Benefits.)
