The County Assistance Office (CAO) will verify a resource only if it affects household eligibility and is questionable.
The household must identify resources on the "Pennsylvania Application for Benefits" (PA 600), "Semiannual Reporting Form" (PA 564) and "Benefits Review" (PA 600R) with enough detail to allow verification.
If verification is required because of questionable information, the CAO will:
Explain in the case record why information was questionable and required proof.
Explain what proof was provided.
Review with the applicant the possibility of unreported resources.
Make collateral contacts if there is doubt (see Section 578.5).
NOTE: When the CAO sends a request to the household for a bank account or any other financial account information, the CAO will identify the bank or financial entity name and only the last four digits of the account number, for example, ‘PNC XXXXXX1234.’ This will assure the household’s financial account information is protected.
Reminder: The CAO must g ive the household at least 10 days to provide required verification.
