577.4 Confirming Notice

The CAO must send a Confirming Notice telling the household that an action has been taken when the benefit has been increased or when the benefit has been decreased as a result of any of the following:

 7 CFR § 273.13 (b)

  7 CFR § 273.13 (c)

NOTE:  The CAO must try to establish, when possible, the reason for the returned mail. A client could be hospitalized or temporarily incapacitated and not be able to pick up the mail. The CAO must exercise caution before closing a case because of returned mail.

The issuance date is the latest date by which a household must receive a Confirming Notice.

When SNAP benefits have not been accessed in the Electronic Benefit Transfer account for 180 days, benefits are moved off line and the case is automatically suspended. The system will generate a confirming notice to the household and a copy to the CAO.
